Narcissus against the world. The painter beautifully captures his love for his own reflection. All the lust and love of the world can gather around, and still not be enough to make him turn his head. In this painting, humble Narcissus looks at his reflection in the Styx river, moments before passing on to the afterlife. If he doesn’t turn around, then he would never be able to turn his head to the Echos of the world. And he will be there, as long as he can, looking at his own reflection, because there is nothing more important that what one really loves.
