Sculpture - Wood, Iron, vegetation
35 x 100 x 25 cm
“Cupid and Psyche” is a tribute to the homonymous sculpture from Canova. However this installation is not only a representation of Ovid´s Metamorphoses, but an example of how the feminine and the masculine are not just two binary elements, but different expressions of the same thing, mutually holding and supporting each other in order to exist. The work became part of the surrounding, in symbiosis with the vegetation, giving shelter to a family of organisms for copule of months.

Psyche never imagined such a potent, profound sensation could exist. It coursed through her, a beautiful agony that pierced her soul in ways she never thought possible.

"Do you think you could ever love me?" he asked, and her soft laughter filled the space. "I already do," she replied, and his heart leaped. "Is this what the poets rave about? Is this what they call love?" she mused. "Yes" he whispered. "They don't capture it," she declared, and he chuckled. "Agreed," he said, holding her close, marveling at the reality of it all.

Like when as a child in the middle of a hug I felt safe. Now I just cower, shrug it off, and if I know something might do me good I avoid it, because it will do me more harm than good anyway. They taught me that way and I, foolishly, trusted them. I'd like to go back to that day when they told me I wasn't beautiful enough, the day they told me "I can't love you," the day they touched me and swore they loved me, and then. I would like to go back there and say to everyone, "All right, I forgive you, but leave me my heart."
