Varying hues across different sections of the painting evoke a sense of the "mood" within each area, akin to the atmosphere of a battlefield. Within this composition (and the other ones in the series), pockets of vibrant excitement, palpable anxiety, and intense strategizing emerge, mirroring the dynamic ebb and flow of a strategic confrontation - projected externally, felt internally.

It’s so interesting to see how the position of a few dots on a checkered board means end game, defeat or triumph. It’s such a human experience. And I love that I got to know the history of the game behind this piece!
