Painting - Oil on Canvas
60 x 80 cm
In this series I‘m painting scenes out of my everyday life and I feel like I did an appropriate depiction of the general vibe around doing the dishes haha! 🤭 I was a bit nerves about the bold colors but I love how they turned out.🙌 Let’s talk details! Composing this painting was definitely a challenge. Originally I had planned only one hand (holding the brush) and lots more dishes but decided in the end to try and close the “circle” directing the eye around the painting. I feel like it looks much more complete and put together now. What do you think? 😊

i love the colours. the depicted girl just shows the various emotions that a woman can feel and show at the same time. i love the energy coming from her eyes throughout her look. she looks deep inside me.
i feel too much and need to get it out

This feels as if I am intruding on someone very tired with no headspace for visitors, as if they are annoyed I was there to look at them

It looks like someone has been caught on camera in an everyday situation, eating sushi after a long day of work

It reminds me of hardship. The art almost looks ghostly. It feels as if beauty is pain. The normalcy of labor and how much time we spend in hardship.

The work makes me feel claustrophobic. Stuck in the mundane. It makes me think of the claustrophobia of womanhood — hunched over a sink full of dishes

The brilliantly used whites in this painting hint at he bleakness in the characters‘ eyes.

There's nothing more agonizing than the wait, uncertain of your fate. Often, your own mind turns into a more merciless jailer than any captor, tormenting you with scenarios far worse than reality.

This reminds me to the ugliness of some day to day life. We deserve more beauty, that’s where strong news kicks in

The colors were the first to catch my eyes and make me wonder whether they were portraying anger, fear or maybe passion ? Although I must say for me the face expression and the colors in combination give off the impression of being angry and confused at the same time it actually makes me remember times where I would be told by my parents to wash the dishes whereas I wouldn’t know why, but do it just not to actually have a discussion.
Painting and drawing, just like you :)

The expression on her face and the movement of the hands work so good togheter with the color. It shows the pain and worries

I wash the dishes, hoping it will wash away my worries too. When I feel overwhelmed and confused with life washing the dishes sometimes helps. This painting reminds me of that moments. I like the expression and composition.
