Schach is a furniture piece and game set for my German chess-loving boyfriend. After seeing the amount of small timber scraps going to waste at my workplace, I came to the idea of using the light and dark timbers to create a chess board. This gradually grew into a complete table and chess set, keeping it simple and classic with a small twist. The two opposing timbers are used in such a way as to show how thin offcuts can still make an impressive, fine woodworking collection and the lazy Susan allows players to store their chess pieces as they're used throughout the game.
