In the “Thinktank” series, three-dimensional network lines meet organic pictorial elements. The seemingly contradictory layers merge to form a unity whose outer form is reminiscent of a brain, a clockwork or a world map. “Thinktank” directs the gaze both inwards and outwards - the eye is overwhelmed by the visual flood of information, reflecting the presence of the networked (digital) world. Even on a walk in the woods today, we are permanently part of these virtual spheres due to the smartphone in our pocket. Everything seems to rotate and flow into one another. The grid lines of the “Thinktanks” are reminiscent of energetic flashes of light, fiber optic networks, veins, synapses, flying rods or ancient Chinese characters that bring the image fragments on the picture surface to life. The three-dimensional relief technique allows the work to step into the space and unfold its effect as a living “thinking machine”.
