Installation - 2 km fiber optic cables, 50 programmable LEDs

This dreamy immersive fiber optic light installation, brings you into a breathing living organism inspired by the mycelium structures that live beneath our feet when in a forest. The fiber optics represent the filaments (hyphae) that are the root-like structures which are responsible for creating fungi (the fruiting bodies) and for helping trees and plants communicate and transfer nutrients like nitrogen, carbon, potassium and phosphorus. The soundtrack was composed specifically for the installation by Maik Drescher. He combined evolving synthetic pads with nature’s soundscapes. Sounds of electromagnetic impulses created by mushrooms are integrated into an ambient journey.
