Far away from the turmoil of the city, surrounded by tall, dark mountains, I created these drawings. I traveled to an old village in the Apennine Mountains in Italy, joining the Frenkiel Ponti Residency. During my two-month stay, I set the intention to go slow and to focus inward: »I don't know what I am doing, but my hands do. Come with me, we are heading towards now-here. This is where timelines collide: We repeat, remember, we look inside. (I am not sure why I do it, only that I need to.)« This body of work mirrors my experience of relinquishing to intuition. The drawings are echoes of silent conversations with the mountains, the wind, wild horses, and the land. Creating these fragments felt like meditation, like a form of prayer.
