The painting is an image of me and my friend kissing through the fence at the closed ward. We had an intense summer, maybe even a wild year that had spiraled out of control! I can't remember how long that period lasted, but I know we had both just come out of two insane relationships that had pushed our boundaries to the limit and given us some form of existential crisis. We needed to test our limits and not give a single care—neither for ourselves nor anyone else. My parents were worried and tried twice to send me on a little getaway to Jutland. I hated the silence; my body was restless, and I craved stimulation through experiences. It wasn't until my friend started becoming manic, and I began to see objectively how we were destroying both our bodies and souls, that I lost the desire for alcohol and drugs. Instead, I became extremely worried, and our friendship had now transformed into my full-time job. I was there to take care of her, I was there to learn my own boundaries, I was there to learn that I had never truly understood what boundaries were.
