The female body - naked. A thing worshipped and adored throughout the centuries, civilisations and cultures. Described in poems, turned into statues, painted into paintings. A depiction of beauty, vulnerability, freedom. The male gaze has turned it into something purely sexual, seducing and enticing. The male rage hast turned it into a punching bag. The male fear has turned it into a soulless slave. I wanted to create this project as a test and protest against the over-sexualisation of the female body. Do you think she is worth less because she is showing her body? What did you think of first when you saw this piece? Sex? Humiliation? Beauty? Aesthetics?
