This piece captures a simple, carefree joy—a tribute to childhood memories when the world was lighter, and happiness came as easily as blowing bubbles. For me, it takes me back to the mid-1980s, when I was just 6 or 7 years old. My uncle Chip worked for HUBBA BUBBA, and every time we saw him, his black Corvette was packed with boxes of bubble gum in all the flavors you could imagine. The thrill of choosing from those colorful packs, the excitement of blowing the biggest bubble, and the laughter when it popped—that was pure magic. Honestly, I was more impressed with those boxes of gum than his sleek Corvette. This painting is a visual homage to that innocence and joy. The bold, playful colors and dynamic shapes echo the lighthearted spirit of a time before adult worries set in—a moment in life where “big bubbles” really meant “no troubles.” Here’s to you, Uncle Chip. Thank you for the gum, the memories, and the reminder that sometimes the simplest things are the sweetest. Rest in peace.
