„Just A Girl“ depicts a close-up of a button-up shirt, overlaid with a bold, cursive text that runs vertically across the canvas. The muted lavender-toned background zooms in on the garment, typically associated with corporate attire. Where a cuff link or button would usually secure the fabric, the overlaying word "Ambition" symbolically holds it together. No skin is visible, with only the folds of the fabric suggesting human presence. The typography is inspired by decorative and exaggerated fonts reminiscent of tattoo culture, intricate engravings, and 1990s car customization aesthetics. Having worked as a tattoo artist, I have always been drawn to concepts of self-expression. In this painting, it is the garment itself that communicates through such an embellishment. Additionally, the work takes inspiration from motivational quotes overlaid with objects of desire, a visual tool often employed in advertising.
