LANGUAGES OF ORIGIN curated by NONAGON FOREST
This exhibition is part of MaHalla Open - TOGETHER 2024, and is curated by
NONAGON FOREST.
Art is and always has been storytelling. Personal identity, futuristic visions, abstract emotions. But what happens when art goes beyond the individual? When stories carry ancient transmissions of culture, environment and cosmos? "Languages of Origin" showcases spiritual intention and invites the viewer to seek beyond the surface. The artist's identity is woven together with centuries of tradition and millions of years of information. Color, motion and frequency become the technology for something ancient to be expressed.
Aimema Uai is one of the main artists and portrays the wisdom of the Muruy-Muina people of the Amazon rainforest. Native traditional knowledge emerges from the land itself: plants, sounds, and animals inspire languages and customs to emerge. Stories through image, dance, and chant become the voice of a people living with respect for nature itself. The tools are derived from the plants and medicines, making pigments and tinctures to infuse art with consciousness of the living environment.
When we listen to the plants themselves – the spirits – what stories are evoked through us? Art forms a bridge between personal and collective identity. The canvas and materials become a technology to convey frequency. What happens when we infuse a certain consciousness into art, of such a kind that it becomes a prayer? Art then serves as an act of self-recognition, while recognizing collective memory. Pictures transcribe information, conserve data, and integrate ideas into the lived experience.
This installation is designed to bring you closer to the world where art meets nature, meets myth, meets spirit. Abstract worlds that bring you closer even to daily life – to reality. Embedded within are the codes of nature, community and quality of living. In this way, art can provide both pleasure and inspiring nourishment in a time when questioning identity, culture and spirituality is a global phenomenon.

Awareness acts as a mirror, reflecting the essence of the four elements. Beauty is born from a heart that radiates love and a mind that remains open.

There’s a reverence to it, yet it’s approachable, inviting you to listen to what it might carry from the past. It’s a quiet, steady power.
