FREQUENCIES OF IMAGINATION GROOUPEXHIBITION FOR BERLIN ART WEEK, 11. – 15.09.2024 Runa Ikeda, Ryoji Homma, Alina Lutz, Magdalena Maatkare, Selassie Our world is flooded with images. External images and internal images. We create an image of the world, we photograph, document - and invent new images. Image - Imago - Imaginations. Projections, images, alienations, adaptations. We want to find expression and make an impression. In the age of virtuality, the construction of the most diverse realities is also up for discussion. "Imagination is the queen of truth, and the possible is one of the provinces of truth. She is positively akin to infinity " wrote Charles Baudelaire, the intoxication experienced poet of the Fleurs du Mal, in his art criticism of the Paris Salon in 1859. Where does the truth of images lie today in the flood of visual representations that now dominate our everyday lives? What about our inner images? Where do we find support and orientation, and what is the role of imagination, visualisation and the power of thought? The project seeks an answer to these questions in the phenomenon of vibration: Brain waves, sound waves, colours - what they have in common is frequency, and the resonance they generate. Mental vibrations become visible in works of art and invite viewers to immerse themselves, to tune in and to get in touch with their own inner images and the power of imagination. She completed her doctorate in 2010 with a thesis on the linguistic mediation of art in the 18th century. After academic research and teaching activities, she worked as a coach and communication trainer. She writes texts for exhibitions, websites and catalogues and has been curating exhibitions since 2019, including for MaHalla (Human Electricity I + II). Since September 2023 she has been a member of the curatorial committee of frontviews e.V.
